Default Recent eBay sale problem. Need some feedback

Recently I had sold a watch on eBay and did not include a battery, and did not mention that it didnt and the buyer got furious before he even tried buying a new battery.

I posted this on Steve Meade site, and got a ton of hatefull comments. I think I'm done with that place. I have 100% feedback on eBay and had people saying I'm a shitty seller, douche etc all because of a $4 battery and a sotuation they were not aware of.

Anyways, here is the message I got from the buyer today.

Quote:
ok. I tried to find the battery myself n I was a little upset when I tried to find it n came up with nothing. I went on the street n tried to find the battery with the number that was on its back n that didnt work either. I took care of it finally at the last spot I went to n got it for 4 bucks. im sorry I gave u a hard time. I really thought it was going to be more.
This is not the first time this has happened either. I sold a fan controller and the guy put one of the sensors in wrong and act like I sold him junk and appologized to me just like this guy.

Anyone get buyers like this?

I don't know how the mods here are but try to keep it civil so the thread doesn't get locked please.

I have seen people do that. They react before they think about how big of an issue it will really be. I am sure you would have given him a refund for $4 because of the battery too.

Well like I said in the other thread, I felt the watch was cheap enough already. I took a loss on it but just wanted it gone. And the buyer was happy in the end. I believe it was the buyers lack of knowledge about the item that was the problem.

I am not a power seller or make a ton off eBay, so every dollar counts. I can't just give out $5 to every buyer for any reason. And in this case I felt I was right to stand my ground and I think the fact that the buyer appologized agrees with that.

I wouldn't say that it makes it right. Personally I would just refund $4. Making a loss on selling an item is a risk you take when dealing with Ebay.

its hard comment on something with out seeing how u listed the item .
sounds like a big miss understanding and with out seeing how you replied back to the buyer again is hard to see why they made a big deal out of it .

imo a watch battery is not as easy to replace as a remote control , if the watch is collector or expensive peice sometimes you need a professional to replace it.

best thing to do is be as up front as possible because they are buying the item based on how its represented in the description .

not saying its ur fault or not just an un biased opinion

Ha ha. Such a tool.

Original OP:

I am not going to do it, obviously.
*
I don't feel the battery is part of the watches actual condition.
*
Batteries are only $5 but there are no screws on the back. So I did not attempt to replace it myself like my other watch.
*
Also I don't wear it (which is why I sold it)
*
It sold for about $50 shipped and When new it was over $100 and it's basically new!!! No scratches WHAT SO EVER on the face...
*
What should I tell the guy?
*

You sold a working watch that was in fact, NOT working. And after multiple posts about the battery costing $3 shipped you refused saying some crap like, "I took photos of the back off so he should have known there was no battery."

You were in fact at fault never once stating the watch was sold without battery, and thought you were clever because your posting was for a watch and not a watch and battery. And you weren't done on the other forum. You begged to go back. The MOD team just thought a shady seller willing to rip someone off over four measly dollars shouldn't be allowed to sell or be a part of the community. You got banned, don't act like you left willing, lol. Banned twice actually, lol. I come here for the classifieds mostly, but you can bet the $4 you saved I won't buy anything from you.

Yep. But I'm the one butt hurt, lol. Dude started his thread off saying he wasn't going to acknowledge the buyers complaints anyways. He just wanted a bunch of people telling him it was ok to screw the battery because it was only $4. I look at it differently, it was ONLY $4 to lose people's respect. Cheap price if you ask me. Then got mad because his character was being defamed when someone said, "Bad seller and bad buyer collide."

Good luck on this forum and good luck to anyone who buys from him. Make sure the ad states wires, fuses, and whatever else is required for operation, lol
