Instead of Cabs, use public transportation buses. But, yes, the use of cabs for this is ridiculous.

maybe it's because I don't have to pay for it but....
I don't see a problem with it, the money is going to be spent someplace. It's naive to ever thing the taxes will go down from budget cuts, they just rearrange where it's spent. The kids are from family's with limited income and probably don't have the greatest lives, might as well let them have something nice. Even if it's just a ride to school.

yea, just use big ass airport vans, like the 12 seaters, go around, pick them all up, the driver can take some free cheese as a tip, and give him an Obama phone for emergencies

Let's not over exaderate ourselves. Surely the school is closer than 60 miles...there are many school systems within each state. And if I remember right, you gotta live a certain mileage before switching schools, staying within that certain area. Glad I don't live in Seattle...but that is just ridiculous. No reason why a child should be chauffeured around.
