Default Dog abuse: wwyd?

Ok guys. Need advise.

My neighbor across the street and one house down is a giant douche. He has this descently big, beautiful dog. It gets out and doesn't listen to him a whole lot.

Now I get that disciplining a dog is between the owner and dog. This guy beats on the dog pretty bad. Winds back his leg and kicks it, grabs it by the inside of its mouth an drags it and what not.

Happens all week every week. In te midst of it a couple days ago, I stopped my truck in front of his house and called him a piece of shit. He just continued dragging the dog inside.

Am I in the wrong here? Or should I be doing something about it?

Grab your phone and record it.. The dude IS a Piece of shit... If he doesnt like the dog, or the dog doesnt listen to him, bring it to the shelter, at least the poor dog will have a chance at finding a good home, getting some training, or will stop being abused.. Animal abuse to me is just about as bad as child abuse, except animals dont have the ability to understand or speak back

i CANNOT stand ass holes like that
straight up call the local dog warden and report him
or if your state has a local ASPCA go that route

there used to be a dude next door who beat his dog also..until i had enough and i beat his ass like he beat his dog ( literally i beat him with my belt and everything)

he can cause SERIOUS harm to that dog by kicking it and beating it.. there is a REASON why it gets away and doesnt listen somebody needs to rescue that poor animal

I agree with this, But also suggest recording ANYthing like this, before its too late... I say record it, because not only will he lose his dog, You will have video evidence of him doing it which he can be charged for animal cruelty/abuse

my gf is a vet tech at the moment and going to school to become an animal cop, me and her are absolute animal lovers and hate animal abuse all of our dogs are and have been rescues and i snap at the site of someone treating their dog bad. As of right now she is in an email battle with some girl threatening to get aspca involved because the girl has a 2 week old pit bull up for sale on craigslist that hasnt even been weaned off its mother yet for 1800 dollars because she wants a puggle and my gf said she will take the dog for free and nurse it but wont pay for it and its illegal.

To answer your question absolutely not, you are doing the right thing, infact you are handling it better than i would, i would get physical with someone over something like that, call your local humane society or animal warden.

I just got a 6 month old pup myself.
Still training her a little bit. I just give her a stern NO and take her toys away and she just sits on her bed for a little bit.

Thats ridiculous though. I can understand a light smack on the ass or tap on the nose, even a water bottle spray.

If in six months, the dog listens to it's owner, doesn't leave the yard, doesn't chase bikes or people, and doesn't jump on people, then that dog has learned more via the 'abuse' as you call it... than most neglected dogs ever do.

What needs to be taken into consideration, is the fact that you want the dog to listen to his owner.

that said,
kicking a dog, is unacceptable.
beating a dog about it's head, is unacceptable.

Report that abuse and animal control will address it.

---------------------------------------------------------

dragging it by it's jaw, is pretty much acceptable. try that shit with the wrong dog, and you'll lose fingers.

---------------------------------------------------------
The owner would get farther taking the dog to the ground by it's neck and holding it there until it submits. {without hurting the dog}
[citation* = perfect_prefect.. he has more dogs than anyone I've ever known... and they ALL listen to him]

a big thing is, the dog just needs to know that under no circumstances should it leave the yard.

I would give my dog away rather than having to tie it up.
I despise tying dogs up.
They deserve better than that.
All it takes is a bit of time and consistency to teach them what they need to know.

If it ain't a Pit Bull, It ain't a DOG.
