Default Anyone ever installed artificial turf on their lawn?

Do they look natural when compared to a normal lawn and doe they feel decent? How often do you need to replace them and how well do they stand up against weather? I'm sort of thinking about laying down some of that on parts of my lawn so kids can play without worrying about them ripping up grass or making mud holes, and I don't have to water it.

there's some new turf out there that looks very close to grass. put it's premium dollar type of stuff. I've only seen a few higher end homes use it before a loose gravel area or for a small section between 2 paved areas.

The only turf I have experienced was for our football field. Not sure if it's the same stuff, ours was about 2" high, and made of like soft plastic I think (it's been awhile since I've been on it). It contained little black pieces of rubber in it (not sure why), and it was a pain when it got in your cleats. And there was also an issue with rug burn if you fell on it the wrong way. Sorry of this doesn't help, but it may.

Btw- it looked realllyyyy nice and every other team hated us because we were the only team in the conference with it

Good quality artificial turf I think can be spendy...but has a high warranty. I planted grass seed in my front yard. Partial tho as I'm in the midst of leveling my front yard. May wanna check store to store and jot down pricing as you go about your adventure. Oh and resists to sunlight too, in other words wont fade its original color from day 1.

pretty common in parts of Colorado with the water shortages they have, no real grass can grow...

You can custom order it to look natural, it has a warranty on average of 10 years, they hold up against the weather incredibly well.

It can either be plastic, or vinyl, the rubber is ground up tires, and is used for cusion, and to keep the turf standing in the same direction.

For the cost i say worth it, but it isn't cheap.
