Default How would you feel about this?

this morning i dropped my truck off to have it detailed, its black so i have to do it pretty often and i always go to this same place well today i was walking back to pick it up (i only live a few blocks away) and i could hear bass from pretty far away, first thing that came to my mind was my truck, but i figured thats pretty far away as i get closer it gets louder at this point im pretty convinced its my truck playing. Sure enough i see like 3 dudes standing around my truck and one is skimming through the music on my HU. I walk up and i say having fun? and they all got weird and scattered and the one messing with my headunit looks at me and smiles and says "it tickles your ears" i couldnt help but to ****ing laugh, by no means is it okay to **** with peoples shit like this but he obviously isnt a very smart dude and doesnt understand common sense, and i understand when you see two 18's, youre gonna be tempted to turn the volume up. i was pissed but they werent near my safe level yet so i felt the subs and they weren't warm or anything, and everyone else waiting for their cars was watching so i didn't want to make a big scene im a pretty relaxed guy, rarely raise my voice and hate confrontation so i was in a weird position so i ended up giving him a real demo and he got out. Gave me a booklet of coupons for free washes / wax / polish so im not too worried about it, but how would you handle it? has anything like this ever happened to you guys?

I usually just take off the face off the hu so no one messes with mine. Only thing that would worry me is if they play it past the safe point.

i would hate it to be honest, but at the same time, if you saw a big system and nobody was around you cant say you wouldnt play with it a little. he probably doenst understand "safe point" and how much power youre running or the damage that can occur if he just cranked the subs to the max. he got caught playing, but no harm, no foul. at least you got some free coupons out of it!

you need a disconnect switch. to make it so it doesn't work when you aren't with the truck.

My buddy took his truck to the local chevy dealership bc one cylinder went out. They fixed the issue and when he picked his truck up his 4 Sa-10's were locked up. They ALL jumped gap. they cranked his 7.5k all the way up, Every knob..... As well as the settings on his radio. All to the max.

After my last accident, I put it in a body shop. I left town for a weekend. When I came back to pick it up, the HU I took out was in, and the bass knob was ALL the way up. No damage done so I didn't make a big deal of it

I've never seen it happen, but I've gotten my car back from shops before and my settings have been all screwed up. I took my car in one time and disconnected the remote turn-on for the sub amp. When I picked it up and went to reconnect my amp I noticed that all the knobs (gain, bass boost, xover) were all turned up to max, like they were trying to figure out how to get the subs to play. I'm running a tablet as my source unit now, so I just unplug it and take it with me.

This used to make me rage hard, but you have to accept that it's going to happen. When I drop my car off anywhere I explain that I've disabled the system.
