Default In todays economy

Would it really be a good idea to be one of the college grads with a dinky peice of paper and no job and debt.
or one without that peice of paper and no job and no debt

seriously tho Whats the best way to get a good job today? I have experience in welding most mechanic work electrical etc. I was looking at going to college for EMT Certification and later on becoming a paramedic but that would out me alot of money i dont have or could even get. I have applications at
lowes
HD
Napa
Advance
Orielly
Autozone
Mcdonalds
Starbucks
Dollar general
Taco bell
pizza hut
burger king
walmart
and the odd n end jobs on CL

with lowes being at the top since they are the only ones that have called me and interviewed etc. but no call back even when i call them. So thats kind of out now. Im just lost at how I have no prior experience with jobs except hardees. and finding it hard to get anything. this might end up as a vent thread or some other bs lol but what the hell am i doing wrong? I cant let the business im trying to get into be my only income. with no money or things to sell to get it going even further.....im lost. that is all

I feel for ya man. I have my wife's sister living with us and her daughter as well. She keeps looking for jobs....and their out there...yet no call, nothing in the mail. There's a crapload of jobs avail but what gets me is how come no one wants to hire them? There's a lot of jobs posted on CL here yet people complain about not finding work. Is it the lack of experience their looking for? I dunno. My wife did online medical coding and cannot find a job in her field. Why? Because they all want 2-3 years+ experience. How the hell are you supposed to get your foot in the door?? Gotta start somewhere. I got lucky when I 1st started my career. I started as a temp worker and worked my way up. No one is gonna offer you a job for free. Some places do on the job training as well.

ive gone way below myself and above myself to find one and nothing.
Id work my ass off and have proved it. I cant understand why no one wants to hire. Im about to go to a temp but i want to actually succeed at a job and around here they would toss my ass in a factory making 7.25 and taking 1/4 of that for themselves. been in a factory dont get me wrong i dont mind it but up here where i would get it it would be something i seriously couldnt do .I failed my last one because of that. which is how i know. And im not going to draw disability or any dumb shit the rest o my life even though i could. It couldnt support me if i wanted too. But it might be my last option if i cant find anything soon. Im hurting pretty bad. nothing left to sale. people wont buy what little bit i have left. I cary myself well most people wouldnt think im half assing my way in life since i was always tought how to make myself seem wealthy and i would get there. which has been true up until now.

If you go to college and pursue a degree in a field that pays well and is actually employable the debt isn't much of a problem... I'm still in college but my sister and her fiancé are doing great. He's an engineer and she's a nurse; both with tens of thousands of dollars in student debt. They each got jobs right out of college, are making good money, and will be buying their first house soon. College is not necessary at all IMO but it can be a useful tool depending on what you want to do with your life.

Try getting a job at a factory; lots of hours, decent pay, and over time you can attain a management position. During that time if you decide that's not what you prefer you'll have some experience and hopefully some savings as well. Try contacting your local employment agencies because they'll take pretty much anyone. My dad got a job at a good company (they make a variety of specialty food products), worked up to a low level management position, and pulls in roughly 70-90k (don't want to just give out the real number) every year.

im seeking a degree for emergency medical team. so it should be good. but the debt would be high if i couldnt get any free money from the goverment like tuition yadda yadda.
he work for monogram aka slim jim? Thats where i could get one pretty simpily. But saving money out of the hard work and going to school would be hard. and most wont work around my school schedule for the fall. And it pisses me off more when someone thinks im making excuses or just dont want to work. I used to wrok from 8pm to 8 am in taco bell and kfc doing pos systems but there wasnt enough work to go around.

Like I said, temp agency is where I started...making 7.25/hr. This was back in 97-98 or so. Now, I'm making 2 1/2 times that much...tho I should be at alittle more, but that's beside the point. Employers could careless about a piece of paper with your name on it whichever profession you took at college. Most places want experience. Period! I see a few where some will train the right person. Also a few where they actaully want some sort of schooling plus exp. A lot of employers do background checks, drug screens, hell even credit checks....and a "behavioral interview" before offering you a job. Had that happen before I started working for Genie Global Landing Page for 7 years and quit. They pay good, good benes, and so on. A temp agency may be the way to go....and get yourself some exp in something.
