Target/walmart etc, are corporations with about as many stores as these little shops have products.
And most of the time, car audio prices are extremely out of line. I usually ask how much it actually costs them and I see if they will haggle. I mean, if we both know the price they paid, and they want to move a product that isn't moving, why not sell for a bit lower than normal, if a profit it still made? Most people want to hide that and that's shady to me.
I dislike how prices of these brands and dealer costs are kept a secret. Seems very very shady and I don't like that one bit.

Can't blame them for actually wanting to make 20-30% on what they sell can you? I am sure the place you work is somehow making money by selling a product or service with a margin....unless you are a gov employee.
Let's see. First AND LAST shop I paid charged $80 to run 8awg front to back. They went AROUND the firewall grommet. Wire was almost cut by the time I upgraded it.
Local shop wants $100 per hour for ANY work.
For a guy like me, and most people on here that can do most of the work they need done, that's a huge rip-off.
