Default Starting a new project! Flying

Well I dont know who if anyone will find this interesting but here goes...
I am taking designs of ultralight and related aircraft and altering and redesigning them to make an ultralight for the bigger and/or heavier pilot or even the smaller pilot... But my main goal is for bigger dudes..

Here is the link to the gofundme for more info.

Heavier Pilot Ultralight by Ricky Lussier - GoFundMe

I will make the plans available for free when completed however I do plan to come up with kits at some point.

I want an easy to transport, safe, comfortable ultralight. It will be fun to fly otherwise not worth the effort.

The empty weight of the aircraft must be 254lbs or under, excluding safety equipment
Stall speed no greater than 27.6 mph
Top speed of 64 MPH
Less than 5 gallons of fuel
Single seater

That is about it..

Ultralights require no license to fly and are easy and fun to fly.

Nice find of the gyro, those are fun too, more stable and actually easier to fly in high wind but this project will be for a fixed wing not rotor wing

I ment as far as safety of building your own. i know with a larger aircraft you have to have he FAA inspect the build process to make sure that the aircraft is safe. i love aviation im currently a U.A.V operator working on getting my private pilot's license and i know what you mean about the cost it is not a cheap thing to do.

There are no safety certifications, however you can get an airworthiness certificate though it is not required.

I will be doing extensive load testing for the wings and stress testing each part as I will be my own test pilot, even though I am losing weight I know the frustrations of being bigger.. so I may need to add sand bags to ensure I weigh enough at the time for real test flights. (If i can lose the weight that is)
