as i stated, walmart stores and logistics (distribution centers) are handled differently
locally to me, starting pay for a cashier at walmart is like 8 or 9 dollars maybe, maybe even lower
starting pay at the distribution center on weekends, is 18.50 per hour.
ive been at the dc for a year and currently make over 21 per hour
when you hear crap on the news about walmart it is the stores that the news is usually about, ive never heard anything bad about the distribution centers
there are roughly 47 dc's like mine in the US (grocery dc), compared to 10s of thousands of stores in the US
my job is pretty awesome, 27 hours is a long week for me, i get full time benefits, and end up with 800-1000 per paycheck, we get paid bi-weekly, every 3 months we get warehouse incentive which is basically a bonus for doing a good job, and equates to 300-400 dollars.
also, we have to make a rate of 95% per day, but if we can go faster than 100% we can make more money up to 30%. basically that means we can potentially make 30% more hourly if we can do the job that quick
my personal best was actually two weeks ago, i ran a 143.7 and finished first on my shift and i ended up with a 130 average for the weekend. my shift is usually top 3 in the entire nation for productivity
