Default Wal-Mart: hate it or love it (ad matching)

Wal-Mart bans man for life for matching ads- MSN Money

Thought this was pretty cruel punishment.

I like that in their response they mentioned nothing about punishment for something they promote but instead only talked about how he was a threat to the employee

That seems a bit ridiculous.

i get crap sometimes because i work at walmart, however I work at the distribution center. The logistics side and store side are handled differently. We get paid and treated really well and get full time benefits for part time work, i love it. But walmart does get a lot of crap from the store BS.

Then why is it when the news is on, it's always about wal mart workers complaining not making enough?? I'd find another job if I were them but that's me.

my mom started working at walmart part time for a little extra christmas cash and to pay off her credit cards. then she decided she liked the extra money and stayed on. been there part time for 8-9 years now. her main job is in the lab at the hospital where she has been for about 30 years.

as i stated, walmart stores and logistics (distribution centers) are handled differently

locally to me, starting pay for a cashier at walmart is like 8 or 9 dollars maybe, maybe even lower

starting pay at the distribution center on weekends, is 18.50 per hour.

ive been at the dc for a year and currently make over 21 per hour

when you hear crap on the news about walmart it is the stores that the news is usually about, ive never heard anything bad about the distribution centers

there are roughly 47 dc's like mine in the US (grocery dc), compared to 10s of thousands of stores in the US

my job is pretty awesome, 27 hours is a long week for me, i get full time benefits, and end up with 800-1000 per paycheck, we get paid bi-weekly, every 3 months we get warehouse incentive which is basically a bonus for doing a good job, and equates to 300-400 dollars.

also, we have to make a rate of 95% per day, but if we can go faster than 100% we can make more money up to 30%. basically that means we can potentially make 30% more hourly if we can do the job that quick

my personal best was actually two weeks ago, i ran a 143.7 and finished first on my shift and i ended up with a 130 average for the weekend. my shift is usually top 3 in the entire nation for productivity

also, i agree if the working environment and wages arent good enough, then go find a better place to work, even if the wage is the same, find a better environment at least.

That's pretty dam good in my book. And prob don't need no masters degree either. I'd be ok with that for awhile. You get more hourly than I do, but I get a lot of o/t so makes up for it. But yeah....I don't think cashiers and associates as they call them aren't made to make big bucks....just something to start out....like at McDonalds.
