Car audio used to be new and exciting
Now it's just expensive and tedious.
Also, for me personally, I was interested in the clean builds they used to put in the old school mini truckin magazines. Now everyone just throws a few batteries in the back with wires everywhere and brags about numbers.
Nobody cares about rc helicopters. It's all about drones now...even though are much less hands on.
Might be the fact that local stores only carry junk. And iirc you used to be able to get decent stuff with a warranty from local stores and this was appealing because you could easily return the items.
Might be the scammers as well. Seeing as forums are the best place to get deals and there is always a risk of getting ripped off, I can see why people would just drop the hobby.
When I talk to people in public they only know kicker and jl, etc. If people knew they could get more for less, that might help. But not when you have 1200w rms hifonics amps for $300 at frya.
I'm also into gopeds and its basically the same exact situation. The only stuff I see on forums is super expensive show builds being shown off. People only care about the showing off type builds. It's actually pretty funny now that I think about it. The same for custom pc's as well. This really puts off newcomers imo.
I'm still getting hate for running an rd-12. Elitism kinda turns people away from a hobby.
