Edit: I'm not even really into photography but it's easy to use. Just set the auto mode and it will go into macro if it needs to, etc. Literally the only mode I've ever used on it and it takes great pics.
You can even set the aspect ratio with about 3 button presses, which is handy for uploading 1:1 for instagram, but it does 16:9 (tv's) and 4:3 and 3:2
You can set the video record mode to MP4 or AVCHD (not even sure what the last one is for)
