Default i think im clipping.. ughh

well i have my saz1500d on my stock electical and i dont want to hurt my amp or my poor psi sub

my voltage doesnt drop below 12.5 but when it is at 12.5 (almost full tilt) i pop my trunk and when im not revving my engine i hear a clipping comming from my sub

today i want even listening to it that loud for that long, and i got out of my car and my sub was heated and so was my amp

i have a battery and more wire in the mail, but this wont harm my amp or sub terribly will it?

it just bugs me lol

i hear the sazs are fine at 12.5 but the constant drops wont harm the amp will it?

What do you mean you hear a clipping? It probably sounds different because its not loading off anything.

Turn down the gain a little bit as it seems you're pushing your equipment too hard.

Your sub is prolly bottoming out or the spider landing came up or st. You cant hear clipping. Also, your not getting 1600 from that amp unless you got it wired to .5 or lower lol.

Gain isn't a volume knob.

Oh you're giving it 1600? How do you know? You're clipping, that's why your sub is getting stinky.

What? The gains are there to match the input level of the amp to the head, they are not a volume control. If your head does 4V and you set the gain to where 2V pushes the amp to full power then anything above that 2V is just going to make noise. This is why many people use a DMM to set the gain. Turn the head up with the sub unhooked, find out what voltage is 1500W at 1 ohm and set the gains until you get that voltage on a 40hz 0db tone. As you're not running it at 14.4V I'd say set for a bit lower, like 1200W just to be safe.

so you have your amp set at "1600" watts and it's on a 12 volt system that is why you are clipping

By gains medium do you mean that your gain is literally in the middle? Bc trust me thats no way to no that your getting no clip...Set your gains with a dmm or better yet an oscope if you have one. And yea you will more than likely hear a pop or a "clip" as you put it when you open the trunk bc its not loading off of anything as previously stated therefore allowing the sub to have "too much excursion" because nothing is limiting it.
