Not directly for an aviation company, but the company I'm with makes machines and parts used in aviation, auto, nuclear subs, big ass machinery and anything that needs high precision gear machines (grinding, lapping, measuring, etc...).

I'm in the military, been working with Chinook helicopters for the past 8 years. Specifically building and trouble shooting the Honeywell T55-GA-714A engines and FADEC components that control it.

I do some work with UAS focusing on GIS applications. point clouds, aerial imagery, etc. Nothing too exciting nor expensive.

Although for fun I'm working on getting parts for an fpv drone to fly around the farm.

I'm the warehouse manger for a company that has a 145 repair station. We overhaul servos, starter generators, wheels, brakes, instruments and some other things. It's a really interesting industry.

GIS? maybe im unfamiliar with the term but it sounds like mapping and agriculture related - HUGE market. id dare to say 90% of the industry for UAS is going towards what you're doing. what all was required for you to get that position?

what aircraft do these generally come off of? that 145 regulation is intense, most people dont understand how expensive it is...

Well I am I suppose. Been with the same company for 10 years now. We make a large variety of simple to complex machined parts for Boeing Bombardier Sikorsky helicopters and some government/military parts as well.

I'm actually between jobs currently(career change to more CS oriented career).

Everything I'm currently working on are personal projects that I'm hoping to be able to sell/get publications out of. But it's not too difficult to convince someone to hire you if you have some background in GIS, remote sensing, and unmanned systems (especially aerial). It also helps that both GIS and UAVs are sort of buzzwords currently. Although the FAA has had everyone in the private industry holding their breath.

Like everything else networking is key. I would personally start with your local AUVSI chapter if you want to keep your options open, but I was under the impression you were pretty set once you complete your program.
