Okay. I am working on a take home test for my DC electrical class. I have one question now that should help me with the rest.
So I have a DC source of 12v connnected to a series circuit with 2 resistors. The first resistor, R1= 4 ohms, the second, R2= 8 ohms.
I am asked to solve for
To the question!
so total resistance is 12 ohms, 4+8=12. therefore total current would be 1 amp, because 12v/12ohms=1amp. But! R1 current, 12v/4ohms=3amps. R2 current, 12v/8ohms=1.5amps. So total current, does it equal 1 amp or 4.5? whats wrong here? I believe its 1 amp, but im not sure how to solve for current of R1 and R2. Thoughts?
