Default It's A Bittersweet Day For Bassik

Well I noticed I had been leaking oil for a little bit, and I didn't think to much of it. Well there was a reasonable size spot today on my driveway, so I took it over to Dave's Garage in South Bend, the only guy I would trust to give my car and just say fix it, and we put it on the lift and took a look. There was a spot in the center of the oil pan that was covered in oil. We looked into it a little more, and came to the conclusion that is the some oil gasket by the driveshaft that has come loose. He had a name for it, but car mechanics lingo goes right over my head. Anyways, to fix it, I would have to get a new motor, knocking me back a little over 6k. I bought the car for 6k, so it would not be worth it. He recommended just keep putting oil in it, and if I wanna get a new car, start looking! It sucks because I like this car, but this is a chance to get a SLIGHTLY larger car....or like suv....well see

Anyways, any cars I should look at? I'm looking for a used one, hopefully a one time owner. I am lookin for Chevy's and Honda's right now. I like both. Not a big fan of Toyota, but we'll see. Ideas?

Unless you make decent money you are gonna hate an SUV. My 13 mpg makes me want to cry every time I fill up. Which is like twice a week

If its just something simple like a rear main seal, you dont need a new motor just a smarter mechanic, what year, make, model, motor?

RUN.... RUN FAST... This mechanic is a scam artist lol $6,000 for a motor from a 1996 honda? No way, AT MOST $1,000 installed for a nice used motor.
Go to Car-Part.com--Used Auto Parts Market and punch in your location and car, then what you're looking for, I'm looking right now in Fort Wayne area, and see an engine with 109k miles for $250(it's in south bend, don't know how far that is from you?)

On top of all that, you shouldn't have to replace your motor for just a rear main seal, but it may be more cost effective though as the motors are cheaper than the labor is to rebuild...
