Default Home Brewing

Anyone else do it? I just bought a kit and my first recipe last night... First beer is going to be an American Red Ale.

So, does anyone else homebrew?

A friend's dad used to do this. Yeah, it always came out nasty. Dude on the show "The Colony" has been brewing his own alcohol.

I have tasted a few homebrews and I love them. Most people dont drink darker beer so most people have a bias when it comes to homebrew. I Love dark beer and I LOVE homebrew. I'm going to be trying it this winter. Good luck!

Most beginner kits will be Ales. They are much easier to get to be drinkable and take less time. Lagers are more time intensive, the word lager means to store. Your first few batches will probably turn out a little rough, but don't sweat it. It will take a few tries to get better at it and get a feel for what works and what doesn't.
Make sure to be VERY anal about the cleanliness of your equipment! A little bacteria in the wrong place can ruin a whole batch.

Yea I forgot about that too! And when he says equipment that means bottles and everything. I'd say the sterilizing is the most important part.
