Default Anyone know anything about ricers?

I've been saving up some cash, and have been super interested in getting a sport bike, or a project car.....I'm leaning towards the project car since sportbikes are too dangerous.

I'm thinking of getting an older Honda Civic or CRX, just as a beater to mess around on, and to take to the track and stuff; maybe even put a nice radio in it since they get loud easy.

What are common problems with these, or certain ones to avoid? Could an older one like a 89-92 running civic or CRX be found for under 2k? I just don't want to buy a complete POS, I dont expect much just as long as it runs lol

My budget is <2000 even thats pushing it. If thats too little for a decent ricer, ill save up for a bike or something since a newer bike thats clean is around the same price as an older ricer that needs work.

u should definately be able to find an EF or if ur lucky an EG for 2,000. The major problem I would watch out for is theft lol. Depending on where u live, ur car might have the risk of getting bagged. Main relays tend to go bad on older Hondas but they r cheap. Also they have problems with rust if they are owned by people in the northern states.

You can definitely pick up an 88-91 civic or crx for under 2k in decent condition.

I have an '88 civic hatch right now, bout it last year for $1500. It's got 325,000 miles and still runs like a champ!

xander_crews do u mean as in if I get a POS, or theyre expensive in running form?

And thats what Ive been trying to look for banks....I'm not worryed about theft, I can get a steering wheel lock thing, and my area is pretty safe not much crime where I would park it.

And I'm in south florida, so hopefully no rust lol

Also if you do plan on racing it, especially if you want to do it on a budget the ef civic 88-91 is one of the best platforms, it's the lightest of all the civics (my dx weighs less then 1700lbs) and the parts/motor swaps for them are the cheapest as well. You can get into the high 12 sec 1/4 mile times with 250hp.

Okay so would this be a good EF civic?

honda civic hatchback si

idk much about these, I googled ef civic and it looks like the one in this ad lol

And what would it take to get 250 HP? like 5gs and a full swap, or factory engine with an ebay turbo and bolt ons? I'm assuming they make around like 120 stock or something lol
