Default Jan 1 2011 Started With A Wreck!

So me and the kid are heading into town to pick up a couple items from the store, doin about 40-45mph, decide to get up to around 55-60mph and then…………

BANG!!!!!!!!

Car makes a 45 degree turn towards the ditch and trees!!!

Off the road onto the soft wet dirt shoulder we go, almost no steering, i get it back on the road keeping her as straight as possible trying to keep her straight as possible not wanting to touch the break since my front end is already locked up, not wanting to go into a spin.

Finally she starts slowing after about 300ft and i am thinking to limit the damage as much as possible, i know soon i am gonna have bad flat spots on the tires so i get it back over to that soft shoulder where she comes to a rest.

I turn her off, get out and see that my front spindle looks like it snapped!

After getting it to the shop it is confirmed, the bearings welded to the spindle and snapped it right off, only thing holding the wheel on the vehicle were the break lines!!!

What a HAPPY NEW YEAR.

Happened in my Catalina in my sig.

I seriously doubt they are ok, i will most likely replace them, they are old anyhow, and its always better safe than sorry.

There looked like some seepage at the crimp and without any pressure pushed through them since the spindle break it is likely they/its been stressed too much.

In reality I will/should probably replace both rotors, both calipers, pads, lines, all bearings and all my tie rod n ball joints. We will see what the shops going to charge just for the immediate stuff and go from there.

I had no warning whatsoever, I had tires put on a month or two ago and me and the guys looked everything over, there were no noises, no signs of leakage, no clicking of worn bearings, nothing, front end was nice and tight, drives straight as an arrow, everything on the car seemed 100%.

When i backed out of the drive there was a small clunk, which i attributed to an iced caliper since it rained then got really cold, but no odd noizes afterwards, i went about 8 miles at the most when it happened.

I havnt even put 3k on the car since i got it so pretty much still working out the bugs, so far all i have done is changed the oil and tires since i picked it up.
