Default Help with Taxes!

Few things I have been wondering about filing. I did not work at all in 2010. I have a 18mo old daughter. Last year I claimed her on my taxes. My girlfriend just claimed herself last year.

Well now that I did not work at all in 2010 should I have her claim my daughter? I know on her W2's shes been claiming Single & 0.

I was recently told that there was a bill passed or something about if you did not work at all in 2010 you will automatically recieve $500? Has anyone else heard of this? Ive been searching the internet but cant find anything on this?

Now if I have her claim my daughter and since I have not worked at all this year there is nothing for me to file correct?

You have made no income for 2010 at all?? As long as you have not made I do believe 5000 or more dollars you do not have to claim. Now as long as your daughter has lived with your girl friend for at least 6 months out of the year and no one else can claim your daughter then yes have her claim her. she will get a children taxes credit and eic if she didn't make to much money in 2010. Now for the 500 dollars for not working I have no clue. If you would like give me a break down of what she made, paid into fed taxes and how many kids can be claimed and I can give you a Ideal in what she will get in return.

I have made $0 this year thats been taxable. Ive only done cash paid side jobs as I have not been able to find employment. So Ive made nothing. My daughters address is same as my girlfriends and has been all year so there for according to the state its been 12 months out of the year. We only have 1 child.

My girlfriend recently started working just a couple months ago. Im not sure what has been paid in but I estimated she has roughly made $1500 give or take some.

So what do you think we should see in return if all is turned in correctly?

Damn. Not what I wanted to hear..lol.

Last year my father found a way around it and claimed my daughter for me and got us $3500 back just for her... But he worked all last year and is now retired. I haven't talked to him yet on this and going to have to because I could use that big check again.

And I got thinking my girlfriend and I have joint custody but primary address I believe is hers...

ya that would be eic and child tax credit that got you that much. It's based off your income for how much you get.

holly shit. want to share the wealth!??

Okay Im going to have to talk to him them. Last year prior to his retirement he made about 75,000 a year. He claimed her and was able to get $3500. Since he retired he made probably about 35000-40,000.

So if he were to claim her what do you think roughly Id get back?
