Default Any professional welders out there?

I'm thinkin about going to Tulsa Welding School and getting a welding job. The class is only 7 months to be certified as a master welder.

And welding will pay much better than my current ~$16K/yr.

Any input?

planning on doing the same thing But its a good career move with potential to make good money. Especially if you can weld underwater but school for that is longer and more extensive.

I never could figure out in my mind how welding underwater would work. Can't use electricity or fire..... lol

Chemical reactions?

And when do you think you might take your class? Maybe we can get in the same one so I will have someone to talk CA with instead of paying attention

I'm located up in KCK and because i have a daughter out of state school is not an option for me. And they do use "fire" under water. Not too for sure what the gas is but they add oxygen to the mix as well so that is how it burns. As for when i start to sure on that either. I have to keep my full time job and finding "good" schools with evening classes is rather hard.

I need day classes to keep my full time job.

And no Wenn, reading > j00.

And I'm thinking welding because like half of my family, my best friend and my neighbor all know how to weld, and I don't. Welding always comes in handy when tooling on cars but I don't know how to do it so custom fabricating is hard to do.

feel ya on that one. Think what i might do is a local community college offers "training" for each kind of welding along with metallurgy and blue print reading. Take all them and look into a "test" i keep seeing to be nationaly regonized as a welder. Think the test is part of a union.

I took a welding and fabrication class that my employer paid for. I'm certifed in vertical MIG, but that's it.

I hardly weld since the class ended a couple years ago. Kind of a waste for me. But I make decent bank being a shipping and receiving clerk.
