Default Garage got broken into today

Yep, came home today, let my five dogs outside to do their business and while I was doing that I noticed the side door to our garage was wide open. So I walked into the garage to find some stuff strewn about; my step dad's 3 Senco finish nailers, a worm drive saw, a sawzaw, and a jigsaw were missing. Stupid thing is that they coulda gotten out with soo much more, like several DD subs sitting on a bench, a miter saw, even more nailers, router, etc.

Called the police, and we're pretty much SOL, nothing can be done since there were not serial numbers from the tools written down, and no initials engraved on any of the missing tools.

There's a dog door in the back door of my garage that leads to the backyard....the dogs hangout in there and scare anyone away that might get too close

not sure if you could do something like this

What's even worse is I think I heard a loud noise coming from the backyard area when I came inside. But I just dismissed it as one of my dogs since they're kept in the back mud room, so I headed straight back to let the dogs outside and that's when I saw the side garage door open. So I might have scared them off when I pulled up into the drive way, pisses me off for not thinking to check the alley way immediately. They had to have been on foot, there was no car in the alley and they couldn't have gone far just carrying all that stuff. Which leads me to believe it might have been a neighbor possibly, but I don't wanna start randomly pointing fingers.

Juan, I was actually thinking of building an AR-15. Good news is that I saw a new neighbor that just moved in outside when I got home and started talking to him about the break in. Turns out he's a gunsmith and has a whole friggin workshop in his house. When he moved in a month or two ago someone attempted to break into his house a week after his family moved in, luckily he had an alarm that went off and came busting out of the house with a pistol chasing after the punk, didn't catch the guy though.

What's stupid is one of the few times we left the garage door unlocked it gets broken into. Well really not broken into, they were able to just come in and take stuff. That's the part that really stung. But we locked it now and even screwed 2x4s across the inside frame of the door.
