It will not be as bad as chernoyble, period. Measures have long since been put into place at nuclear plants to prevent disasters from happening.

WHat happened in short (without explaining how nuclear power works lol), is the generators that run the pumps that provide coolant to the reactors core (uranium rods) got destroyed and couldn't pump coolant water in. There is a safety seawater flooding system that was deployed but the built up pressure caused hydrogen explosions that released radioactive material (basically reactor 3 blew the f up) . The fuel rods are constantly hot, and at this point there is no effective way of cooling them and, so the situation is still dangerous.

I highly doubt there will be a full meltdown, engineers will figure out something by the time that happens.

Zachfeen basically described it. If a meltdown does occur (which i think it will) it will devistate Japans economy. I seen on the news yesterday where west coast US was stocking up on potassium iodide pills incase radiation reaches

It wont reach the USA if it does it will be so tiny it won't have any effect on us . They have a plan to surround the rods with sand then cap it with cement. As a last resort but it has to cool down more for them to get close enough to do that
