Default Anyone used the Bernzomatic Butane Soldering Iron?

I have one and every time I light it and lower the soldering tip, the flame goes out. Anyone have any experience with one of these irons and can help?

try holding it where the flame isn't pointed directly down, or turn back the gas if you can.

Those are 2 things I noticed from playing with a propane torch, directly down will put it out, and too much gas will put it out. If I have the valve open too far and flip it over it pushes too much out and there isn't enough air to keep a proper burn and it goes out.

I'm holding it flame up and it goes out.

EDIT, It seems like it still stays hot, or at least glows after the flame goes out. I tried using it and I guess it's working as it's supposed to.

Hmm, maybe the flame is just like a pre heater or a cleaner then.

It would probably work better in a car application when you're just soldering wires together, but I wouldn't recommend it for soldering to PCB's.

99.9% of my soldering is just joining two wires together or putting a terminal on a wire. I don't crimp unless I have to.

It doesn't seem to keep the very tip hot but other than that I can't complain on performance. Mine was $15 for the entire kit which has a few other tips included and then $2 for a can of butane.
