Default Computer Build

Well this past week I got a paycheck and thought Id spend it on something not car audio related. So I read up and built a computer, something I have always wanted to do. I use my computer mostly for internet, photoshop, and video editing also to play music so I wanted something pretty nice but not super expensive. I think my selection was well made and I hope this satisfies me for the next few years (till the octacores become affordable )

Well here goes...

Intel Quad Core Q6000 OC'd to 3.2Ghz or 3.4Ghz(depending on temps)
DFI P35 Dark Edition Mobo
OCZ 4gb timed to 5-5-5-15 at 1333Mhz
MSI HD4850-R w/ copper cooling
Xclio Wind Tunnel ATX Full Tower
Artic Freezer 7 CPU fan with Silver 5
Corsair 650W PSU
(2) 640gb WD Caviar in Raid 0
XP SP3
Microsoft 07

All the parts were ordered and paid for, should be getting three shipments in, one on monday, tuesday, and wednesday. So it looks like wed. night I will be putting it all together, testing temps and setting the overclocks. I also just picked up a nice LG 22" monitor and a kickass wireless keyboard and mouse from logitech. The CPU part of the build came out to just about a grand, which for what I feel I will have, it will be well worth it. Currently I am on a P4 3.0ghz with 512mb of ram. It does the job for internet, music, and word processing but it isnt the fastest thing when I open up dreamweaver or photoshop so this should be a great improvement.

Let us know how it turns out. I need to do the same to my home desktop. It is extremely slow.

ridiculous laptop ftw.

Dell XPS m1701 I think? Got it for cheap because I broke my old Inspiron e1705. Ended up gaining about $1,300 in parts for free.

Case comes in today.

I was thinking of getting a nice laptop but for my use, there not practical. I bought a nice one from gladiator jai on here and used it for a month or two but it never left my desk lol so I figure why not just build a new desktop to my liking.

well the AMD chipsets were rated like junk and I wanted a quad core for the new photoshop and video editing software I have. For $175 (205 with fan) I will have a quad core running at 3.2-3.4ghz and idle temps will be between 30-40 which is more then fair for me. What would you have gotten if I may ask?

prolly amd i think 6400+, forget model. dual core and run it at 3.8ghz with a cheap watercoling system.
right now i have a intel dual core p4 in my dell and it is [email protected] ghz. i dont even keep the side panel on cause it gets so hot.
it will occasionally get hot enough to burn you.
i change thermal compund every 4 months.
