whats the closest that you have personally went to the hatch or rear of trunk in a build and were there any issues or any problems with it. i know rule of thumb is half the port opening but dont know if any less is a problem ive seen some that look real close. my last box was port and sub up and numbers were ok but could have been better any input will be appreciated thanks

I thought the rule of thumb was at least a port's diameter worth away from the wall. Not half. I've seen ports closer gain. I've seen closer lose. In my trunk, the further I can get my port from the wall, the bigger my score gets.

Having the port too close may alter the tunning. It is good to have the port facing a very sturdy wall for good spl. If you gain by having it too close then it is possible that you altered the tunning to one of gain from what is further away.
