Default Song size help and question

I have just under 18,000 songs but my average is about 5.5-5.8mb PER SONG! Anyone know of a easy, reliable, safe program to scale down the files but keep the quality?

Thanks
Chris Hasbrook

You won't be able to keep the quality if you scale them down.

if it was anyone besides nizzy i would agree. but he gave you the benefit of the doubt and only gave you a 5 pter when it should be considered a perma ban. nizzy isnt a nazi mod, hes one of the laid back ones. although i do not support all of the staffs decisions this is one staff that i do support 100%. just let it go and move on. it will expire

Sad to say that I agree. How are they encoded now 320kbps? Lossless? Flac?

I wouldn't scale them down. your going to loose quality. I would look into an external harddrive and keep them all on there.

I have plenty of room to store all the files that's not an issue lol. Just see others with a better average size per song and just wondering if there were any ways to make em smaller. Oh yeah, sorry bout waiting so long to repond, 2 month old son takes up some time along with work.

I am starting to have alot of songs that are above 10mb just because thats the the size when I "acquire" them. I don't go looking for the highest kbps because in all seriousness, noone really needs better than 192. Hell 128 will do just fine MOST of the time.

I can tell a huge difference between 320k songs and 128k songs. The more complex the music the greater the penalty on going to a more compressed format.

I understand but I'm not really talking to the classical and DJ Tiesto listeners out there lol.
