Default How do you handle this?

So a kid I work with just bought 2 L7s for 200 bucks, which isn't a bad deal, even though I despise kicker. So I'm gonna build him a box, but he wants it to "slam", but he only has a crunch 250.2 , so the subs are being way underpowered. I told him that I could get him an amp that would push those subs like they need to be for about 200 bucks (AP1800) but he said he was going to get his old amp back and it is "2400w and can push 4 12s" lol. Im almost positive that is a boss or similar.

I dont want to build this box, then him put his "2400" amp on it, and the subs not "slam",but I want to build the box.

How do I explain to him that it wont sound like he wants it to if he doesn't get a decent amp and wiring?

I know what it does clean, clipped, dirty, loaded, unloaded, wired down, low voltage, good voltage, after it hot, while it's cool, on caps, on batts, where it protects, what's thermal limits are and just about anything else anyone would care to know about it.

But thanks for chiming in. Your opinion is duly noted.

be straight with him..."listen to me or it doesnt get done...i can build u box to handle w/e power u want, but it needs to be REAL power...do it my way, it slams...do it your way, u ***** that i didnt do my job right and ur stuff sounds like shit"...something like that...lol

Yea I guess I'm gonna have to be a little bit more blunt. All he can say is "nah man this amp is badass, it'll slam, it ran 4 12s"

Build the box on the bigger side. After it's installed, run wire from your car to his and show him what it should/could sound like. That way when he installs his shitty amp, he will know it's not a fail box.

If he thinks his POS amp "slams" on 4 12's what do you think he really expects? What kind of box was the 4 12's in? Probably a POS and anything done properly should impress him.
