Default about port diameter

Just wondering, I am running 2 punch hx2 15's in a 5ft3 box, if using a round port what would be the optimal diameter of the port and same for a square port. how do you know how big the opening should be, not the lenght but the diameter ie: 4 inch diameter for round port or say 4x4 square port... how do you know how big to make it for best results?

Its different for every sub. You want enough port area so the port velocity is low enough to get rid of any audible chuffing. WinISD and others can do this.

For round port you want roughly 6-9 inches per cube and for a slot port you want roughly 12-18 per cubic foot. So for 5 cubes after displacement you could use a 6" aero but you'd be on the low end for port area at 5". Or do a slot port. Not sure what your dimensions are but for example 5x18" would give you 90 sq" divided by 5 would give you 18 per cube. Just mess around with some dimensions until you find adequate area
