Default platform1 or gcon

ive been planning a 4 12 setup for a while and the 2 subs that seem to stand out for me are platform1s and ssa gcons. what i have been looking for is subs under $200 and able to hold about 800-1000 rms and both seem to be good candidates. they both have similar TSPs 3" 4layer aluminum coils and a well ventilated 12spoke frame, where they seem to differ is motors they have about the same diameter slugs but the psi has 2 1inchers compared to ssa having 2 3/4 slugs the psi also has a slightly bumped bottom plate and a slightly taller top plate all this seems to add up to the platform1 having more power and more usable throw.

i was just wondering what other peoples experiences have been and if david could give his thoughts

It would be very be hard to compare these head to head, and honestly, without soundlng like I am bashing the SSA product. I have too much inside info to just spout off an unbiased opinion.

I will say this... If you would be happy with the Gcon, then there is zero doubt that you would be happy with a Platform 1 series.

One thing to remember is that we can build our subs to suit your install. If you need the RMS handling a little higher, we can do that. We only charge $25 to upgrade the coil and spider on the PF1 series for a 1000w rms rating.

Id say the platform 1. More usable throw is always going to be a benefit. Plus, he can tailor the sub to what you listen to and box size recommendations. I've thought about going from my aqhdc3 10s to some platform 1 or 2's. Plus dave is somewhat local to me and im all about local business. I just get worried about fixing something that's not broken! Hahah. Another thing is your talking directly with the creator! So you can customize and get exactly what you want. Where as with the other companies you pay BIG money for small upgrades.

Platform 1. I would say the icon is a more fair comparison to the platform 1.
