Default soon to be ordering

soon to be ordering a pair of Platform 3 high perf 18s with carbon caps for my 88 suburban dedicated SPL rig. i just havea few questions for PSI fans/company.

this build is going to be walled, drivers side port. subs will most likely be lined up and down on passenger side. just wondering what would bea good "ideal" size and tuning? going by the specs i am roughly guessing 13 cf3 and tuned at 35. i still want to be able to demo and not just burp tones. power will initially be one Banda Viking 7000 with a second added in the next year. (recone planned then to match)

metering will be mainly sealed dash IASCA SPL , with Bass Boxing and SQL for kicks and giggles.

and to think i started competing just for fun... now i got my mind stuck on chasing numbers.. wtf am i thinking? lol

Good luck chasing those numbers! It seems like the closer you get, the farther away they are.

And enclosure that does great for burping will probably be a lot larger than what you would normally use for daily listening. Most guys with large bands were SUVs have enclosures 20-30+ cubic feet in size with really hi tunings.

4th order bandpass enclosures are becoming more and more popular and considering the amount of space that you have to use, the type of output that you want, and the specs of the subs… One of these enclosures might be the very best thing for you.

If you go for a daily/small enclosure, 12.5-15 ft. would be more than plenty of airspace to get good results.

For an SPL burp, you would probably be best with a much larger enclosure with a huge port 10 high for burps and possibly plugged to lower the tuning for daily music.

With a 4th order, you have only a port for the battle, so changing the tuning would involve swapping the baffle/plate/port with a different one that is longer for a lower daily tuning.

Awesome, this was just the input I was seeking. I have the entire interior ripped out and have been strengthening the body to eliminate all the flex I can. So space is no issue. I may look into 4th order cause I do want to show off the motors of the level 3s. They are awesome looking subs. Will be great for both me and my team
