Default belt slip on 97 explorer

i just received my singer 250a alt today and at first ill admit i was really irritated about the performance BUT this alt is pulling so hard that my belt was slipping even at idle, so i replaced that with a nice gates belt but stock length. i still have really bad slip. so my question is how would i go about figuring out which length belt i need and if i should make the pulley to the right (left on car, right in pic) larger to improve belt wrap. right now i have less then 50% wrap for sure

Yeah I believe I had to go with a 1" smaller belt as well on my Exploder.
