Default impala alt

I have a 2004 chevy impala v6 3.8L
I cannot figure out what the stock alt type is but its a delco delphi 105amp 2 wire unit from what I can tell.
I want to fit the largest alt that I can, I found that a dr44g or the ad244 will fit my car with with a bracket
bracket link- A500 Delco Type CS130D, AD230, AD237 Series Side-Mount to AD244, CS144 Series 2-Foot 2-Inch Mount Conversion Bracket
My goal is 240+amps at idle charging at 16.8v(externally regulated)
stock alt:

well you have the same alt my car takes.

that bracket indeed does work, as i had a 270a ad244 on my car using it.
you've gotta shave down a bit on your alt mount for it, but its fairly easily done.

however what we can do with the stock case will have more idle output than a 350 will, by about 10-20 amps or so. Not to mention they're a more efficient alt. We can do a hairpin conversion on the stock case which will do around 300a peak but 220-230 @ idle. I'll be putting one on my car in the next couple weeks, as we just finished development on them. The only downside is you'll lose that rear mount. Its nothing to worry about, just letting you know.

edit: i didn't go with a 350 on my car as the crank pulley belt wrap is horrible, i just didn't trust the lack of belt wrap there to try to turn a 350. i believe your car is a 3800 series 2 mine is a series 3 so it may be different.

So a stock sized unit can do 220-230 at idle and 300 peak?
what would something like that cost
and are there any other options?

it's a little bit deeper than the stock unit, but it uses the same front case so it bolts up fine.

we don't have the cost finalized yet on the hairpin.

there aren't options that would be better for what you want.

either the 350a ad244(200-210a idle) or the hairpin stock mount conversion(220-230a idle) are your two best options. I'll shoot you a pm with pricing within the next couple days.
