1. draw a sketch of how u envision your console to be...

2. trace your sides pattern out of cardboard and fit it in the vehicle...after you are satisfied with the way it looks, transfer pattern to MDF 1/2 inch or 3/4 inch...

3. lay down tape, 2 layers criss cross over the area where the console will be going...

4. make sure you cover everything in the area with plastic, because resin will ruin your interior

5. there are 2 ways you can mold the floor to the sides....the first step either way is too make a mold of the floor with the resin and mat...mark your area that the console will be with a permanent marker...make the resin larger than the marker you can cut this excess off later. dont forget to mark out your area for the shifter too...

lay down resin to wet the surface, then lay down 2 layers of chop mat, sticking the mat with your paint brush to make sure the mat gets saturated all the way down...it will take about an hr to dry, then take some reinforced body filler and put it on your resined area so it doesnt warp when you remove it from the truck.

now heres how you can attach it-either cut the bottoms of your sides to match the contours of the truck and brace the tops together set it down on your mold you made earlier and mix a batch of resin and pour it between your mold and the sides to bond the two together or attach it with screws/glue later...

6. after you build your templates for your gauges and xm? and attach them to your sides, you can stretch your fleece or fabric over the skeleton. if you are happy with your shape after you attach your material to the top, you can begin putting your resin on your material...

lay down a few layers of chop mat for strength...once it drys, begin your sanding and bondo-ing....then your all ready to go...over-simplified but it'll get ya started

you will need:

gallon of resin with hardener
MEKP
fleece or stretchy material
cheap paint brushes
spreaders
body filler-i reccomend rage gold-easier to sand
reinforced body filler-mar-glass is good or rage gold makes one too
lots of sand paper...

here is the console...bottom/back FG sides wood

the console is going to hold 2-10's, one inverted...lcd screen in the back window...black sides and red top airbrushed to match the rest of the pieces airbrushed in the truck...

that is how it sits now

almost done interior

test fit

another test fit shot

inside has been stiffened with 5 layers of glass, then aerosil, then a mar-glass/resin combo over that for strength

here is how it sits
