Default sub/mid-bass from 100-500hz?

I'm trying to do research on what I should use to fill a gap in my frequency response curves between 100hz-500hz, I would prefer an 8" if possible, I don't really care if its a sub or a mid-bass speaker but I need something that will work well in that range. Anybody have any suggestions?

In that frequency range, probably the cheaper the better, lol. Virtually any PA driver should work; something like this:

Eminence Eminator 1508 8" High Power Car Midrange 8 Ohm 290-701

Why are you looking at 8s if you only need down to 100? Usually getting an 8 into anything (door, panel, rear deck) is alot of work and the range you want, most 6.5's will do that easily. Plus some 8's are going to have an issue playing up to 500 depending on what you are looking at.

Because he wants midbass reinforcement/grunt so his highs don't sound tinny compared to his sub-stage. (think gorilla zoe voice slowed)

at least that's my impression.

SURE a cheaper full-range 4 or 6 can do it, but will it do it at 110+ dbs?

Pro-audio would definitely be your best bet.

AVI makes a great SQ 8" sub/midbass driver if you have the room. Probably the best 8" I have heard for SQ... Not an excursion monster though.

Every once in a while an older Adire set of 8"s come up for sale. XBL2 is a good thing. Might be worth checking out.

For a slim 8" the Rainbows get rowdy.

The Anarchys are much more musical than people think from the spec sheet. Give them a shot. Size is 6.5-7 oversize range.

... I ended up with CDT M6 Gold 6.5" midbasses due to installation constraints. We'll see in a couple weeks how they do.
