Default Why is Quality on i-pod touch better than my smartphone (and most others)...??

Anyone else have this same problem. I feel like anyone who plugs their phone into my car (including my own) the volume is about 10% lower.

My ipod recently broke, and instead of buying a new one I figured i'd just get a new phone and use that for my music as well.. I got the new Droid Razr M. I'm pretty sure i've checked all the audio settings on it, I can't find anything else that might be holding back the volume.

I checked an EQ that had 5 settings from -10db to +10DB... I set most of them on the upper end... still didnt get me to the same volume as the iPod touch.

I'd turn up the volume more, but my amps are set right on the line of clipping so I don't want to. Very frustrating!!

its because your phones output voltage isnt as high as a ipod.

the only thing that worries me about the app is that it would simply just be boosting the frequencies not actually changing your output voltage which would lead to easier clipping.

and if you set your gains playing off an ipod they wouldnt clip at the same point if you are playing off a device that has a lower output voltage

im sure it would, but i only used it for the higher freqs. you right it just boost the freqs vs changing the output voltage

is the phone using usb or aux??...usb has a "cleaner" signal...also, set your eq to flat when u use either an ipod or phone or whatever...there should be no filtered signal coming from the phone to your headunit...also, u could try the source level adjuster or if the headunit has a "source cleanup"...my pioneer has it for this exact reason

Did you use iPod with USB and Android with AUX? or hell I could see this happening if you used auxiliary for both. I'd assume it's because of a diff in output voltage. Doesn't say anything bad about either. The phone is designed to be a phone before a music player, and performs as such. The iPod is designed to be solely a music player, and performs as such.

Wrong.

I have a dnx-6160.

The ipod cable uses the USB AND 3.5mm audio and video (one for audio, one for video)

I can plug in my phones via 3.5mm and they both sound equally loud through that 3.5mm input in the back.

The front panel 3.5mm, however, IS a noticeable amount quieter.

So. If you don't have the 3.5mm audio/video ipod hookup in the back, you are kinda screwed. But I just wanted to clear up this misconception that people think it's the phones when it's really the deck itself.

(You can confirm this by using the ipod in 3.5mm mode instead of the USB cable)
