Best components for sound quality.

Like title says but on a budget of 125-180ish tops.
I've been looking at CDT mainly and am almost set on a pair.
Also 5.25"s or 6.5"s. Is there really that much of a difference?
Powered by an SD250.2.
Suggestions welcomed.

Well i guess ill have to go around town to find a shop with them and try to hear them. But Any major draw backs by going with a 5 1/4?

The only reason I would spring for 5 1/4" drivers is if the 6 1/2" models didn't fit. It will have the effect of decreased cone area- less volume, less low-end (I imagine).

Image dynamics ctx65cs. These things sound great. Entry level but eat up the 180w a side I'm tossing at them.

The JBLs that T-Fade mentioned have some great reviews on DIYMA. These are what I will be running. Kind of sad looking at them on the shelf right now.

The smaller drivers would just make installation easier. Also the bigger drivers might hit the door cards. Also really not sure on those jbl's as the tweeters might be a little harsh.

For budget sq systems I've always just went three way active and bought the raw drivers from parts express. Most mobile components just aren't made for true sq, but for an over bearing high end and something to match up with a very over pronounced low end. Not that there's anything wrong with that, but a pair of Dayton refs and vifa xt25s will smash anything in the car audio realm for the price. Amps like the PPI phantom 900.4 can handle the 3way active for you, or 3 way old school quality xovers can be had for cheap on eBay.

I had a set of these, never got to use them installed but the tweeters were smooth on -3db which is rare for a set in that price range. The whole set seemed to be quality.

I trust a component set intended for a car to survive better in such an environment. That's just me.
