Default Well it begins!

I purchased another truck for my weekend driver. (I have a company truck) I've been wanting to do another build that had good sound quality but also has the ability to fulfill the bass head within me at times. I'm starting with a 2007 classic Chevrolet 2500HD crew cab 4x4 duramax. I have a pioneer avh-5600bhs installed so now the fun begins. I have a pair of focal 6.5 coaxials and a pair of 6.5" components left over from another project. I also have a Hifonics series vii Gemini and Juno I plan on running the Gemini on the comps in the front and Juno on coax rears for fill both bridged @ 4 ohm. The sub stage I'm going to remove the 30% side of the rear seat and have ordered a pair of PSI platform 2 12's and will be looking for an amplifier in the 4k watt range. Now time to shop for batteries and tons of deadener. I'd really like to go active but with amplifiers and headunit selection that's not a option. I'll probably hide the woofer amp because it won't match the series vii that are in pretty good shape. I hope this build turns out as well as I think it will and I might be rambling on but I figured I'd get more feedback here than I will from my wife! Also trying to interact get to know some board members incase I want/need to buy or sell anything. Any input on deadeners, large mono amps that powerful and capable of sounding good. Looking at Crescendo BC3500 or 5500 the build quality seems nice for the price with Tiffany rca's etc. Price no option being a Stephen Mantz fan I'd probably run 4 Minotaurs but 2800 isn't in the budget for the sub stage. Thanks in advance for input. Constructive comments are great.

Also my sub stage being so large in a "sq" build some might say why or doesn't make sense. My opinion is the sub stage is the easiest to make happen they are playing a narrow band of frequencies. My taste in music is very broad from live jazz performances to decaf. So with a stiff suspension and decent sized motors is why I'm backing it with plenty of power. Just thought I'd throw this in due to reading several posts.

Sounds like you have a good plan. I haven't personally heard any Psi subs, but everytime I've talked with the owner I've been quite impressed with his knowledge. You could do much worse.

You've come to the right place. There should be tons of people who can help you. Speaking of Sound deadener...Secondskin is having a decent sale on Monday, 40% off door packs. I've personally used Sound Deadener Showdown cld tiles to my satisfaction, but considering the sale on Monday it may be considerably more cost effective to buy secondskin. Sound Deadener Showdown has a great informative website if you want to read up on noise cancellation.

I would worry less about other people judging your build as an SQ build and just try to make sure you are happy with it. Just my .02.

I have to say the PSi plat 2's are going to do the job for sure, but a buddy of mine has 2-15" plat 2 loaded on a Sundown saz3500v2 and they are being way overpowered and you can tell when you hear them. They are loud but bottom out and get stinky quick and we have his amp Dd-1 tuned on the sq track for sub. I'd say do not go any larger than a 3500 bc they won't like it. They seem to be sensitive to being "overpowered" so to speak. I've used many brands of deadener and so far I feel the best I've used is the Shok mat from droppinhzcaraudio.com it's great stuff and works very well. Some people don't like the gold, I think its pretty cool but u don't see it anyways lol. Best of luck, sounds like you are going to have a damn good sounding build going on!

Maybe too much vent area causing your buddies to bottom out? The owner of psi recommended 4k to me to get the job done but I told him what I was trying to do etc.

Those are the exact 2 places I've looked at deadener but ordering woofers and buying Christmas presents this weekend buying deadener this weekend is out of the question. If I do decide to pull the trigger who has it on sale? Thanks for the help

Box built to spec for the subs and still tuned to 30hz. Not really much he did wrong with the install, but who am I to say over David if that's what he told you. But I def know my buddy's plat 2 15's are iffy with the almost 4k. But you can always be easy with gains and such and Prolly be safe.

second skin is having their sale tomorrow. Use promo code CYBERDOOR40 They have a limit of 5. That will only be good for 65 sq ft, but a decent start.

Sound Deadener showdown seems to have an occasional B-Stock sale which is ~50% off regular price. You have to check their facebook regularly.
