Trouble with sq for door speakers

I have a selenium st350 tweet matched with a 8w4p 8"mid each door. They get loud but u hear little sq. How do I improve this? I have them running off a crescendo 800.4 (but it doesn't sound like the cross over settings work on the amp) Should I add an active cross over to each tweet and mid? Any help is greatly appreciated

I think you meant passive.

but try this first: set the settings like this and
run the tweeters on ch1&2
run the midbass on ch3&4 (this way you can use the remote volume knob to turn the mids down if needed) [or you can use front/rear fader on your deck]
as for the gains, set them at half to start or set them correctly if you have a dd-1 or O-scope

the red arrows I drew represent the knob setting. the goal is 3,000hz {3.0khz} crossover point and 100hz subsonic filter on the midbass

{the knob grooves might be 90 degrees off from the setting (90 degrees off means pointing at 9 O'clock and 3 O'clock instead of 12 O'clock and 6 O'clock)}

if you don't understand, have someone help you

once you achieve 3,000hz crossover, you'll actually hear them as good as they can sound the way they are installed

he bought about $200 worth of speakers and cut holes in his door panels for them.

the way I see it, he may as well make them sound as good as he can the way they are before doing anything else.

There is nothing wrong with pro audio it's all the half ass installs they are put into that are the issue. People hacking apart doors, throwing 6 tweets into the pillars. Basically anywhere they will fit and then just throwing power to them.

You could do the same thing with some $1000 per set focals, it'd still sound crappy, although it would cost a lot more.

Yes pro audio speakers generally have a rising frequency response in the midrange. That's what EQ is for. If your not capable of correcting basic frequency response issues (which even a perfect speaker will have once you put it into a car) then SQ isn't really what your after.

Sorry for the generalized rant, but it needed to be said.

This concept is interesting. Ive heard of someone mentioning it before but being able to look at it has me wondering...

So i can see that the subsonic is used as the cutoff for the mids at 100 hz, but since the amp is set to lowpass, it would seem that the the mids would reach very high into the frequency spectrum right?
