heres my issue... from what ive seen, you cant just put any zcon with any zcon. friend bought 2 of them a few months back. they weren't 8 layers like stated on every site since at least 2011 which was a big selling point in choosing them since he was at the time running an AB 1100.1 to a pair of 12s and didn't want more then 2 subs to do it.
we then tore them apart to recone them to 15s, in which I seen there not 8 layer, there a slightly oversized 4. but then im told that was just a recent update and was informed the update included a different spider count/lead count. BUT, the subs didn't have the updated spider/lead count that were in the update. needless to say heres how many "versions" ive seen out of the 4 he has and what "sites" say;
-4 spiders, 4 leads
-5 spiders, 3 leads
-3" 8 layer
-3" 4 layer round wire
-3" 4 layer flat wire
many of those combos wont work together or have the same specs. so why don't you tell your customers that theres updates so they know theres more then one? a 5 spider sub is not going to be "close enough to the same" as a 4 spider sub
I also think you should fire whoever wrote every spec on the zcon that lists it as an 8 layer since THE ZCON NEVER HAD AN 8 LAYER, EVER
ive been told that coil never ever went into the sub and the parameters listed were for the 4 layer coil that's always been in the sub, YET, a 4 layer round and 4 layer flat will not have the same parameter nor will 5 spider vs 4 spiders.
so, could you guys tell me agsactly what all is the deal? the coils were 4 layer rounds with 4 spiders, 4 leads and the 2 he just bought are 4 lead and 4 layer flat wire. is he going to get round? flat? 4 spiders? 5? 3 leads? 4 leads?
