Default new car, new goal

Well, I picked up a new car...2013 328i and I am quite happy with the Harmon Kardon sound system. The only thing it needs is a little more low end. I do occasionally listen to some rap, dubstep etc. so I don't want to give up too much around 30hz. I know ported would make me happier but I'm more interested in space and aesthetics over SPL in this car.
At some point I plan on fiberglassing an enclosure into the drivers side corner of the trunk to house either a single 10 or a pair of 8's. I think the volume could end up being something around .5-.75 cuft, which I could probably get a little more if I needed to. I've got a rockford p500 that's on the shelf and am confident it will be enough power for my goal.
I want a sealed enclosure for the sake of space, this system doesn't have to get loud. I just want it to sound good, my other car does both quite well.
I would love nothing more than to stick to Sundown as that's all I've owned for subs...Basically an SD3 10 or SD3 8's, whenever they arrive, is what I'm looking at. I would love to know an estimated delivery on the 8's to plan this out a little better. I considered getting a yardsale sd3 10 and building a mdf box just to see how it sounds.
Of course I'm not really sure when I'll get a chance to do the enclosure with some other projects I have going on and riding season coming up fast.

Anyone want to chime in on thoughts of the SD series? 12 vs 10 vs 2-8's?
Maybe other subs that will do well in an enclosure that small and have good sq?

In a vehicle where space and looks are important but you still want good output i like ib setups. I know you like sundown but a single fi ib318v2 would sound great get loud and low. Its just a matter of sealing the trunk from the cab and using the trunk as the box.

I think trying to IB might be more trouble than it's worth, and I'm not interested in hacking up this car to install a sub. I might drop the rear seats down later and see if it could be done easily.

There shouldnt be any hacking of the car. If there is a solid steele plate on the back of the seats and they dont fold down then it would be a pain. If there is a ski pass or seats fold down you just add a mounting board a couple inches behind the seats and deaden the rear deck to seal up holes.
Should look like this [IMG][/IMG]

The rear seats fold down, which might be a nice option to keep...Even though I'll probably never need to fold them down for anything. Haha
If I have some time today I might look at putting them in the rear shelf, which may or may not be possible due to the motorized privacy screen for the rear window.

I think either in the rear shelf or fiber glassing an enclosure for a rear corner will be the best. I want to keep the option of the seat folding down and having the whole trunk available for stuff.
I'm not too concerned with it getting stupid loud...i could easily do that.

So I guess the question is; 2-8's, a 10 or a 12? I figure i can easily get .5 cuft, probably even .75 cuft pretty easily.
I'd enjoy the new sd8's whenever they'll arrive. I figure I won't actually build the final enclosure for the car until later this summer.

Dayton audio ultimax 8's are on sale for $99. A pair would do well in .7cu

Looks like they're only 2 ohm dvc though. I've already got a p500 so 2 wouldnt be optimal

Man, I promise I'm not trying to intentionally shoot down your ideas. haha...just no one else has any apparently
I suppose I could pick up a 500w at 2 ohm amp to run those, just would prefer to use what I have...I already have enough unused car audio sitting around as it is.
I'm not quite ready to pull the trigger on subs yet as I've got a big house project to finish first...sucks having priorities!

The 12 takes up too much room, the 10 wouldn't compete with two 8s. So if SD 8s your sundown lineup of choice I would do the 8s.

I had three SD 10s on a sundown 1200 in my c300 and it was very nice for some low end.

Have you thought about a single X 8" ported? Might get more low end that way, otherwise you might struggle to get as low as 30 Hz
