Default SAE-1000D power ratings

Question about amp draw verse load.
The manual states:

Rated power output

-RMS power, 2 ohm linkable/dual mono ------ 1800W x 1CH

-RMS power, 1 ohm mono ----1000W x 1CH

-RMS power, 2 ohm mono ----600W x 1CH

-RMS power, 4 ohm mono----300W x 1CH

My setup is (2) 4ohm DVC SD3. I have each sub wired at 2ohm and connected separately to each of the speaker output connections of the 1000D. Am I sending each Sub 600 watts or is it 1000 watts because the amp internally parallels the connection down to 1ohm?

Should I wire this differently?

Are your subs connected internally in your box? Click on the link below. Add the number of subs and the configuration, it will show you the subs should be wired.

Thanks for the link. The subs are not connected in any way. I saw a post from Jacob someplace about this amp that the amp will internally parallel the signal. The diagram in the manual does not match the speaker terminals on the amp. With my previous mono amp I had the subs wired together for a 4ohm load. Now with this amp I want to make sure I知 wired optimally. If I need to I can wire the subs together to deliver a 1ohm load and only use 2 of the speaker terminals. But if what I have now is the same I値l just leave it as it is.

Yes, the terminals are parallel inside the amp (most true mono amps are like this). Instead of the amp simply having two terminals for speakers, it uses four for convenience of wiring, just as your doing (does not actually matter if you use all 4 of the terminals on the amp, or just two). So 1-ohm = 1000w, but each sub shares that and will see 500w, although likely a little bit more than 500w per sub with that amp.

Sounds like you have it wired perfectly.

This is where having a DMM (digital multi-meter) comes in handy, you can measure the dc resistance and know where you're subs are wired, or if the amp terminals really are parallel, can check and find out right away. Nothing fancy, just a cheap meter.

Perfect. Glad to know I知 on the right track. I did check the ohm load at each sub (2.2ohm) so I should be 1.1 at the amp. I値l poke those wires to so what I find there. I知 guessing any combination of + and - should work?
Thanks for the info!

BTW this amp/sub combo is amazing. Love the SD3 subs. They hit hard!

Yes probing any combination of + and - will show the impedance at the amp. You can also check + to +, then check - to -, with the meter set to ohm, and will get zero ohm if both sets of speaker terminals are indeed parallel internally (a test for any future amps you are unsure of as well). Just measure right at the amp terminals.

I don't think anyone is ever unhappy with Sundown products, just overall good stuff.
