Default Do you guys think this will work??

I see more than enough ppl getting scam. I know that he're precations that buyers/sellers can take to try to prevent a bad transaction but sometimes it always cant be avoided! Why not make a rule where, if the seller doesnt qualify to be a power seller or doesnt have a certain amount of itrader (you can make that # up) that the seller would have to ship 1st if the buyer is a power seller or has a certain amount of itrader..If both parties are in the same boat (both power sellers or non power sellers) than it would go down as usual unless each side decides on some type of agreement. what do you guys think?

Default My .02 cents

Because of all of the scamming, I understand why you would want to do that. IMHO, I don't think it would be fair to ship my item to a "power seller/buyer" simply because of a title. I can't speak for others, but, I'm a man of my word. I know my word has little to know merit with 99.999% of the forum, but I only need that .0001(the buyer) to believe in me. I've done a few transactions, were I've shipped first. That was done to build confidence in "THAT" buyer. Now that I've established that I can be trusted, I don't think I should have to do it for the "power seller/buyer".

Just my .02 cents.

Most ppl feel like why would I (seller) have to ship 1st. I (seller) don't feel comfortable sending item without any money. Then why should buyer feel comfortable enough to pay someone $300-$400 to a person 1st with no item? It goes both ways..

It does go both ways. I (the seller) feel like I have merchandise you (the buyer) and others want. OTOH, you have something I want as well, monies. If you (the buyer) have 2nd guesses about the seller, back out. Hopefully, you can get what you want on a later date.

Isn't 6 itrader enough to qualify for power seller?

Also I like it but there are reputable sellers that have scammed one I can think of was the guy in Canada who sold a vfl1000.1 to like 3 different people on different forums, he had good feedback all around and walked away with alot of money

And power sellers are not perfect I've seen a few with buyer bewear threads that took time to get resolved.

It should be on terms with the buyer and seller with documentation
The seller will ship so and so a amp (before/after) payment is received then they have a "contract" and it's more official rather than this guy said on the phone he would ship after 1/2 payment and payment plan on the rest

Power Seller membership requires 30 positive feedback as the seller and it is a $25 per year subscription.

As far as "scamming" goes, I've seen some of the best sellers be accused of and or proven to be "scamming".

When it comes to unknown users, you can not trust them.
You should do everything in your power to not get scammed. [you have more control over this than you think]

Shipping first is hard for sellers who are selling because they have little money... which is why most sellers sell things.

I just feel that as a buyer, your the vaurnable one since you're the one shelling out all the money up front. It could be something like half now half upon receiving item? Idk, just trying to see if we can add something else to try to prevent scamming more. I know it's always possible but it's something else that can help.

it is just really hard to cover everyone, even the (shipping to nigeria) catastraphy on ebay, people would get messages from paypal saying they have paid and have the money, but the people would send flase messages that looked identical to the paypal site, then when the people shipped and tried to remove the funds.... ohhh nooooo..... no monies

it is just to hard to keep track of everyone and if too many rules get set into place it will be harder and harder to buy/sell something, imo

I know it's not a solution to the problem. I do feel that some type of rule like that will help the scamming a little or atleast how much you lose!

It is not something that the we would make a rule or even be able to enforce. How a deal goes down is really up to the parties involved. We can compile a list of suggestions on how to work out deals with people with no or little feedback but we can't force anyone to make a deal a certain way.
