Default Benchtop Testing: AT-800.1D Audio Technix

I've been working on amp testing rig for the past week or so. I'm about 90% complete just waiting on some rocker switches in the mail.

First amp to be tested: Is this little guy

@12.8v

Nice plexi window.

I don't like these phillips screws because this always happens.

On to the testing.

I am using resistors so these are numbers you would see on a amp dyno. I make sure the wave is super clean.

First up is 2.5 ohm

599watts @ 14.53v
77% efficiency

1 ohm

915watts @ 14.37v
66% efficiency

Very nice, I see you have your fluke meter set to measure amperage, and of course your oscope/dmm set to measure your voltage, but what is the bigger guy on the right?

I'm interested to start learning how to properly test myself, given time. Be nice to know more in depth some of the tools/processes used in a beginners role. [Feel free to PM if you don't wanna chat up your thread]

Thanks.

The clamp is measuring dc amperage. That is how I am able to calculate the efficiency.

The big guy on the right is measuring the ac voltage coming out of the amp speaker terminals. This one even tells you the frequency. I was using a 59hz track. Kinda hard to see. For some reason the tracks on the usb only went up to that.

Since I am using resistors I can calculate current based off of the resistance and voltage. Then with the current I can calculate power.

Nice. The little thing dose put out! I gave mine and to my son, blue lights are too bright for me. The plex is cool but my CT/audio technix's plex is loose and rattles. I know I could silicone it but IMO that was a little short sighted on CT's part

The power supply? Is that one of the ones that Aliexpress sells?
Nice test! I love these scientific based tests, like you and Taylor.
Wish I could find something similar on my amp, to see how poor it prob is...
