Default Sundown Saz 1500 Dyno

Did a couple test last night on a saz 1500. Heres what we came up with.

A little note on this test. Most people feel that running at a higher ohm load means the amp will be more efficient. In this case running the Saz 1500 at .5 ohm was equally efficient as running it at 2 ohm, maybe even a little more so. Don't believe everything you read on the internet... Test! Test! Test!

First Round
2 ohm nominal
9.3 ohm reactive
Input:
14.0 volts
15.31 amps
214.34 watts
Output:
149 watts
69.51% efficient at 9.3 ohms

Meter score done on music. Went up until we stopped gaining on the meter. Dynoed 127w on this song before clipping

Round 2
0.5 ohm nominal
Rising to 1.6 ohm
Input:
13.5v
122.8a
1657.8w
Output:
1177w
70.99% Efficient at 1.6 ohm

Meter score done on music. Went up until we stopped gaining on the meter. Dynoed 1156w on this song before clipping. Same song as the 2 ohm test.

I hate to break it to you, but this is entirely impossible. When it comes to electrical theory and laws of physics and shit, you can absolutely believe the things you read on the internet.

I appreciate you taking the time to test and share your results, but I think a more plausible explanation for the efficiency results is that your method is flawed and/or inconsistent. Not that the SAZ1500 is devoid of efficiency losses.

Yeah even the 80% they list it at is a 4ohm test for a reason. If the amp runs hotter at .5 than it does at 2ohms then it's going to be less effecient.

You would think that but the amp was more efficient wired to .5 (rising to 1.6) than it was wired to 2 ohm (rising to 9.3)
