So I'm looking to match the dd 9518 I'm going to ship back to dd for recone with a dd amp. I came up with the idea of running an m3 which I see everyone els pretty much run when it comes to dd amps. We I see a diff between the m3a and m3b. Or should I say heard a diff. I just would like to keep the options open or just stick to what would be the better move. After reading it seems the m3a had a lot of problems and that's why the m3b was released. I think the site say it's 400 watts diff between the 2 but would that sound louder? Thanks for the help
Wish i could help you out, but i do run an m3b and its a beast of an amp. As you stated the m3a is rated less power, but i think the power gap is actually a substantial one.

I don't think there is much difference between them. I know the m3a was silver and the m3b is black. power difference was like 200 watts at 12 volts. I could be wrong though.

m3a is back case too, like the newer DD amps. Always wondered why they wod make amps only 200-400 watts difference Seems odd lol i mean at least the gap from the m4 to the m4a is an actual large power jump

Yeah they had a m3a in silver and black. I really don't see any other differences other then the 200 watt higher rating at 12 volts for the M3B.

The letters on the amps are version numbers. I dont know if #1=A and #2=B. But the M4a is not the 2nd version of the M4. its basically a misslabeld M5. the new M4 is a M4b, which was going to confuse everybody because of the M4a, so they did a second version of the M4a which is the M5. and the power increses because of the newer better components they upgrade to
Sorry not to jack threads, But I want to know how the new M3C perform? Went on DD's website and seen the new M3C, M4B and M5. It doesn't seem like the are goin 18volts like SQ 4500. Also @chance_p just posted a pic of his M4B in the DD thread.
