Default HowTo: Wire Multiple Batteries

Searched the entire Car Audio Help & Discussion section here at CACO.
I only saw one thread on "wiring" batteries. So i was wondering if any-
one could do a "Howto" with pics and "needed" things. Cause i know i
can't just run 0 gauge wire from alt to batteries and then to amps. How
many fuses do i need? How many runs of 0 gauge? Where do the fuses
go? Whats the best lengths for best results? Difference between series
and parallel? Just an idea...and one i need within the next 2 to 3 days lol

ok, starters, DO NOT SERIES BATTERIES...u will get 24v...u dont want 24v unless ur running a stetsom amp..lol...

ur gonna need at least one run of 1/0...ive always done from starter batt to back, first battery, then parallel to the second battery, etc, then to the amp...ground wire is the same, but also ground the batteries to the frame in the back...fuse 8" away from each battery, before and after...if u keep ur batts in the back close enough, with nothing to get them cut or anything, u dont need to fuse...in reality, u never need to fuse but why take the chance over a $8 piece...keep your wire lengths as short as possible too...less current loss in shorter distances

You need fuses that are rated for no more than the current rating of the wire being used.
Every positive run should be fused at *each battery.
Usually you wire from the alt to the front battery to the rear battery(ies), but it depends on specific applications.
As many runs as you can afford (basically LoL).

exactly how i posted above....just run power/ground from the back batts to each amp...PERSONALLY, ive always done a seperate run of 1/0 for my mids and highs amps, coming from my starter battery...if u cant afford to do that, just taking from the back batts works just as well

I have 2 4 channels, & 1 5500 (2 pos/2 neg)...

would i justt take a positive/negative from 1 battery & split to each 4 channel via 0g. --> 4g splitter? & for the 5500, take both pos & both negs, from the other battery?

well ur gonna need more than one battery feeding that 5500...what i would do is take one 4ch and 1 pos/neg to one batt and do the same to the other...so ur getting the same current draw from each battery

nice sketch :P

And as for the 5500, should I get side pos/neg from 1 battery & 1 pos/neg from the other battery?

^^^go to the amp from battery 3 only...the current capacity COULD be different from batt 2 and 3...likely minimal, but still...and add a negative run from ur starter battery back to the accessory batts
