Default kenwood kdc-x997 walk through...

Shot a quick video of the features on the new kenwood kdc-x997 head unit. Sorry for the low quality but i was uploading from my phone so i shot it in low res. But it should give you a good idea of what its about.
Enjoy. And if you have any questions id be glad to try and answer them.. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KQth...e_gdata_player

I think it's probably because that sub is not moving enough to allow it to cool.. Id turn the gain up a bit so it moves more for cooling reasons.. That's why it's hard on subs to be underpowered..

Just tested the sub outputs. 4.2vac clean volume 35 with sub level at +3/5(goes in odd numbers so like +2.). I seen over 5vac but was very dirty.
Unit is rated as 4v preouts. Which is right what i got unclipped full volume with sub settings as listed.

Hard to really see any real detail in your video. So I wanted to just ask. What are the biggest improvements/differences over the 996 model?

I see the most obvious being what looks to be a shrink in the display screen? My eyes could be deceiving me of course. However, it looks like they made this less flashy and kind of made it more form and function over eye candy. Please correct me if im wrong.

I know the previous models have all suffered from the dreaded screen washout in extreme light conditions almost to the point where you couldn't see the screen at all unless you went to the brightest contrast on the color green. Has this been an issue with this model?

This video was simpily to show the features this unit has. Not so much the cosmetics. However, i have not checked it to see if the display becomes washed out in bright light.
I will see what happens. Unfortunatly kenwood doesnt include detailed instructions, so i thought this may help some people out.

Um...it is active. Maybe not 3 way. But it is active capable, also has T/A and DSP. Not sure what else you want at this price

I ordered mine last week. It will be here wednesday! I can't wait to get it hooked up in my car and see what improvement I get over my stock HU with the LC6i. Should be very nice and cleaner sound

I think you will like it. Is it an 80prs...No. But does it have a lot of the same features for $100 less. I'd say so. I'm happy so far and can't wait to get it into the vehicle to see what it can really do.

Nice vid man, I just picked up a 996 or I would be all over one of these!
Basically the same but I like the 997 looks better, I agree with not so "shiny".
That was the only thing I did not like about the 996, it is so "shiny" it looks cheap kinda. Sometimes when the looks are more sleek, clean, refined you can tell it's nice, unlike the Hawaiian shirt buttons the 996 has
