Decide what terms you want to go with and type it out and agree to them. You can keep it private if preferred. Things like when. Does it need to be paid by, when will the item ship once paid, what happens if you have to cancel the plan, etc

Also put how much of the money is non refundable so incase the buyer backs out.

make sure u do it thru paypal , and have the buyer send out an invoice stating the deposit amount the payoff date and if the deal is broken by either buyer or seller what will be the penalty and total amount refunded if deal falls threw .

i recommend the payment agreement on caco just so u have a public record but in any event that only serves for this forum if deal goes sour.

i have done payment plans for 3 members on here and all went smooth

Cal and I have done payments before, worked out great, but I believe is a mutual trust thing. If you both don't have trust things can go bad quick. Id start with a nonfundable deposit, and a set in stone final date. Since we don't work on credit here, being a hardass is kind of important. No pay, no ship.

non refundable deposits are nice because it give the buyer incentive to follow through and compensates the seller if the buyer flakes

i agree with sonic , but i feel that is one sided so i ad a little twist. often in order to make the buyer rest assured i offer them double the deposit if i the seller brakes the deal so we both have the sale @ best interest .

Actually, multi payments are ILLEGAL under PayPal terms and conditions... aka don't do payment plans. Don't act as a lender, if you do charge a premium, non refundable, also charge interest.
