Default Basics, subwoofer motors and flux

i know some people aren't familiar with subwoofer motors and how exactly they work so the following is just some notes on whats happening in a motor as well as the coils interaction while in the motors gap. keep in mind this is generalized. different motor types such as MMAG/XBL^2/split gap/etc may not work in the exact same way. what is the same however is the magnetic flux lines and poles of the magnet

the model is a cut out of a motor. 1/4 piece. for example if its confusing, it looks like this in a real motor

overall layout of the parts

below is a magnet. notice the skinny black hair like lines make loops/curcuits from one pole to the other. N is north, S is south (if wondering)

lets use the magnet in a motor.

closer look at the motors lines

add a coil to a model

the last two models show how a coil can be affected when a driver is under high excursion. the coil its self needs flux to push away from/pull to. if the coil begins to leave the gap, it looses lines to grab which drops the BL power

please keep in mind this is all GENERAL

Not 100% sure but having to small a back plate and large pole vents also cause a pinch point in the flow of flux weakening the gap.

potentially yes. if theres more magnetic material then steel can effectively accommodate then it can cause a pinch or bottle neck that will kill the efficiency of the motor. too thin of a top plate and it fully saturates too easily causing the back plate to suffer also since they need to work as a team.

And for those that don't know the goal is to have the purple in the gap only without using excessive amounts of material.
