As some of us know, finding the cutout diameter of a speaker can be frustrating when;

A: using a ruler or tape measure.

B: specs are either not available, or just too hard to find online.

With 2 simple tools, you can easily accomplish this feat.

tools needed;

1-24" framing square.

1-large or 12" 90 degree triangle. (if a triangle is not availible, you can supplement this with another 24" framing square, or something that is perfectly squared)

First, take the framing square and butt both inside edges to the circle to be measured (i will use an arbitrary, stamped basket),.....

Then take the triangle, and place it along the bottom edge of the framing square on the other side of said circle while making sure both bottom edges are flush,....

PRESTO,..... we have just made a large rudimentary outside diameter caliper, and now we have the true measurement of a circle,... in this case 10-7/8"

I hope this helps,... at least someone.:thumbsup:

I never would have thought of that.

Thank you very much. I have always just eyeballed it.
